Our Olympic Dinner

We had an Olympic dinner last Saturday night with the Haywards. They arrived decked out in their sports gear ready for some Olympic events, Chinese takeaways and Olympic Ring Banana splits!

The events were eventful with our five competitors

Olivia from Samoa, Theo from Germany, Oliver from New Zealand, Georgia from Austraaaaaalia and Sophie from Fairy world!
The kids had to demonstrate weight lifting expressions, beam balancing and come up with a floor routine (to ABBA's dancing Queen). It was an interesting display of flexibility and versatility.

And we had gold medals for the winners .....
.

Bad Jelly The Witch

Last Saturday we had a free ticket (one adult, one child) to see the play Bad Jelly The Witch. One of my favourite childhood stories .... a nonsense story by Spike Milligan, which I remember listening to on the radio ... when they read stories on a Sunday morning.
It was eventful just getting there - I was running late from the hairdressers, popped home to pick Olivia up and zoomed off to the Aotea Centre arriving with 3 minutes to spare - only to find that we were the only ones there because I had driven to the wrong place! So back in the car and zoomed back to the Logan Campbell Centre in Greenlane. Thankfully the show had started late so we only missed about 5 minutes.

Olivia really enjoyed it. They did a really great job of covering the story - except maybe a little too detailed when they down-trousered the giant. A little too real! Otherwise, funny and colourful and next for Olivia to experience a story as a play!

A Busy Birthday!

Thanks for all the birthday messages everyone!
I woke up to banana pancakes and a table covered in presents made by our resident gift maker/giver:

It was a busy day, M took the day off. We were all going swimming after Theo's lesson, but Theo was too sick for his lesson that day and we headed off to the museum for a bit of this kind of thing .....

and a lovely lunch at the cafe.
In the afternoon, M and Olivia snuck off to buy my present which was a COMPLETE surprise:

A Laptop!!!!
It has a webcam - so here are some amazing photos of M and I on my 32nd birthday!!!!

Olivia's Restaurant

I think we have the best kindy around!
Last week Olivia sat with one of the teachers and planned what she would have in a restaurant. They made a list.
This week when we arrived at kindy we were surprised with ......

Olivia's Restaurant! Tables, chairs, table clothes, cups, plates, spoons, play food, menus, food related activities .....
The kindy teachers turned the deck area into her restaurant for the week. And for the whole week Olivia has served food, made flat whites and hot chocolates ........ she says she has been busy cooking for everyone!
How awesome!
And for Theo, dropping Olivia off at kindy means a good 10-20mins of this:

We love it there!

Hello there ..... Batman!?

"Mummy help me" - Theo wanted to put this snow white costume on..... so I obliged.
"I Batman", he said, once it was on! Sure thing buddy!

Happiness

I found this crown and clip-on earring set for $1 new! And surprised Olivia with them after kindy one day ...... she was over the moon. She just loves the earrings!

Fruit!!

Latest bit of art by Olivia. She is quite into drawing fruit for some reason.

Meet The Neighbour.......

Mrs Hayley Kerpatricker.
She came by on Monday and stayed THE WHOLE DAY!!
Hayley has a son named Theo and a baby that needed to sleep in our bed. Hayley stayed for dinner too .... and played a question and answer quiz game with us. We each had to buzz to answer questions like:
Do Giraffes clean their necks with their tongues?

It was an interesting visit!

Camping Out!

With the wild storm supposedly coming on Saturday night, we decided to camp out in the lounge (we have a couple of large trees bordering our property which we are trying to get the council to cut back .... with not a lot of success!)
So we moved two queen-sized mattresses to the lounge, ordered fish and chips, watched "Enchanted" which is a very, very, very sweet movie, and then.....
watched the kids jump like crazy .........
The storm didn't really eventuate in our neighbourhood. Lots of rain, not much wind, which was what we were waiting for.
